DOT Drug Testing & C/TPA Services in Warner Robins, GA

DOT Testing Support for Drivers, Owner-Operators & Employers

Who We Serve & Why It Matters

Middle Georgia Diagnostic Lab provides professional DOT drug testing and Consortium/Third-Party Administrator (C/TPA) services for drivers, owner-operators, trucking companies and other DOT-regulated employers.

From a single DOT drug test to ongoing random testing program administration, MGDL helps employers manage their testing responsibilities while following applicable 49 CFR Part 40 procedures.

Services are available from our Warner Robins location, throughout Middle Georgia and, for qualifying employer programs, through nationwide collection coordination.

The reason for the test matters because DOT testing requirements differ depending on the testing situation.

Employers and drivers should identify the appropriate testing reason before the collection is performed.

DOT Pre-Employment Drug Testing

Before performing safety-sensitive duties, employees subject to DOT drug testing regulations may be required to complete a qualifying pre-employment drug test.

MGDL provides DOT pre-employment drug testing in Warner Robins, GA for drivers and other DOT-regulated employees.

Employers can send applicants to our Warner Robins location or establish an MGDL employer account for ongoing testing.

DOT Random Drug Testing

DOT-regulated employers may be required to maintain a compliant random drug and alcohol testing program based on the regulations applicable to their employees.

MGDL provides random testing support through our C/TPA services.

For qualifying clients, services may include:

  • Consortium enrollment

  • Random pool management

  • Random selections

  • Testing notifications

  • Collection coordination

  • Testing documentation

  • Program administration support

Owner-operators who are subject to FMCSA drug and alcohol testing requirements generally need to participate in a random testing consortium administered by a C/TPA.

DOT Post-Accident Testing

Not every accident automatically requires a DOT drug or alcohol test.

When DOT post-accident testing requirements apply, testing must be handled according to the applicable DOT agency regulations and required timeframes.

MGDL provides DOT post-accident testing support for qualifying employers and employees.

Because post-accident situations can occur outside normal business hours, MGDL also offers after-hours collection support for qualifying testing needs.

Employers should contact MGDL as soon as possible when a qualifying post-accident test is required.

DOT Reasonable Suspicion Testing

When an employer determines that reasonable suspicion testing is required under the regulations applicable to its workforce, MGDL can perform the required specimen collection.

The employer is responsible for making the reasonable suspicion determination and completing any required supervisory documentation or training requirements.

MGDL's role is to provide the testing and collection services requested by the authorized employer.

DOT Return-to-Duty Drug Testing

MGDL provides DOT return-to-duty drug testing for drivers and other DOT-regulated employees who have completed the required steps of the DOT return-to-duty process and have been directed to complete testing.

Return-to-duty drug testing requires a directly observed collection.

The Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) determines when the employee has successfully complied with the SAP's recommendations and is eligible to proceed with return-to-duty testing.

Completing a return-to-duty test does not, by itself, guarantee that an individual will be returned to safety-sensitive duties.

DOT Follow-Up Testing

Following a successful return-to-duty process, the Substance Abuse Professional establishes a follow-up testing plan when required.

Follow-up tests are separate from the employer's regular random testing program and are conducted according to the SAP's prescribed testing plan and applicable DOT requirements.

DOT follow-up drug tests requiring urine specimen collection are directly observed.

MGDL can coordinate qualifying follow-up collections for employers and C/TPA clients.

What is a C/TPA?

A Consortium/Third-Party Administrator, commonly called a C/TPA, is a service provider that assists employers with some or all of the administrative functions involved in a DOT drug and alcohol testing program.

For small transportation businesses and owner-operators, using a C/TPA can simplify the process of managing required testing activities. Middle Georgia Diagnostic Lab provides C/TPA services to help qualifying employers manage their DOT testing programs.

MGDL C/TPA Services

Depending on the employer's program and regulatory requirements, MGDL C/TPA services may include:

  • Employer program enrollment

  • Consortium enrollment

  • Random pool administration

  • Random testing selections

  • Drug and alcohol testing coordination

  • Collection-site coordination

  • Nationwide collection coordination

  • Post-accident testing support

  • Reasonable suspicion testing coordination

  • Return-to-duty testing coordination

  • Follow-up testing coordination

  • FMCSA Clearinghouse support

  • Program documentation and administrative support

The employer remains responsible for its regulatory obligations and for ensuring that its company complies with the regulations applicable to its operations.

FMCSA Clearinghouse Support

The FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse is a secure online database containing records related to violations of FMCSA's drug and alcohol testing program for CDL and CLP holders.

  • MGDL can provide Clearinghouse-related support within the scope of our C/TPA services.

  • Depending on the client's program and authorization, services may include assistance with:

  • Employer/C/TPA program setup

  • Clearinghouse-related testing administration

  • Return-to-duty testing coordination

  • Testing documentation

  • Required C/TPA testing support

Certain Clearinghouse actions must be completed directly by the driver or employer and cannot be completed by MGDL on their behalf.

C/TPA Services for Owner-Operators

If you operate under your own authority and are subject to FMCSA drug and alcohol testing requirements, managing your program involves more than simply taking a pre-employment drug test.

  • Qualifying owner-operators may need to:

  • Participate in a DOT-compliant random testing consortium

  • Complete required drug and alcohol testing

  • Maintain appropriate program documentation

  • Comply with applicable FMCSA Clearinghouse requirements

  • Complete required testing when selected for random testing

  • Follow applicable post-accident procedures

  • Complete the return-to-duty process when applicable

MGDL provides C/TPA support to help owner-operators manage these testing-related requirements.

DOT Drug Testing for Trucking Companies & Fleets

MGDL works with transportation employers that need a dependable testing partner instead of locating a new collection site every time an employee needs testing.

  • We can support:

  • Owner-operators

  • Small trucking companies

  • Growing fleets

  • Transportation companies

  • CDL employers

  • Other DOT-regulated businesses

Employer clients can coordinate recurring testing needs through MGDL, including pre-employment, random and qualifying post-accident testing.
